What this page helps you decide: whether to keep playing the current run or restart immediately

Every room sends a mini boss well before its finale, and across every documented room that mini boss lands between roughly a quarter and a third of the final boss health. That consistency turns it into something more useful than an obstacle: it is a measurement. If the mini boss costs you most of your board, the finale is three times larger and the run is already over.

Deciding whether to finish the run

The ratio holds across every floor

Run the division on any room and you get a similar answer. The Kitchen Spike Boss is 24% of the Chef. Basement Pinky is 31% of the Rat. Play Pond Tortured Teddy is 25% of the Freaky Frog. Slime Vats Frankenstein is 29% of the Slimer. The Operating Theater Doc is 37% of Dread Stitch. Floor 4 Angry Oni is exactly 30% of the Water Oni, and the Empress is 27% of the Rot Oni. The tightest reading of this is that mini bosses are positioned at roughly a third of the room difficulty on purpose, which is what makes them a fair test rather than an arbitrary hurdle.

How to use it as a stop condition

If the mini boss goes down without visible strain, the finale at roughly three times its health is reachable with the board you are about to keep building, because your damage grows over the remaining waves while the requirement only triples once. If the mini boss takes everything you have, restart immediately. The instinct to play on and hope is expensive here: on Floor 3 and Floor 4 the finale is between six and thirteen waves later, and every one of those waves is time you could have spent on an attempt that can actually finish. The community Horror Mode guides state this outright about Pinky at wave 10, and the arithmetic explains why it generalises.

Grouped mini bosses need a different reading

Some rooms send several mini bosses at once rather than one, and the ratio applies to the group rather than to each member. The Kennels send three Mad Scientists at 43,200 each - individually only 15% of the Feral Cat, but 46% combined. Reading the individual figure would tell you the wave is trivial when it is actually the harder half of the room. The rule to carry is that the pooled figure is the right one for judging whether you can survive the wave, and the individual figure is the right one for judging whether your single-target damage can remove any one of them quickly.

The one room where the ratio breaks

Funny Face on Floor 2 sends a Scare Bear at 33,875 against a 61,000 finale - 56%, roughly double the usual proportion. That is worth knowing because it makes the room feel harder than it is: the mini boss is close enough to the finale that clearing it comfortably nearly guarantees the room, which is the opposite of the normal reading. Funny Face is also the first room of Floor 2 and the one with two exits, so a flattened internal difficulty curve there is plausibly deliberate - the room is teaching layout rather than testing damage.

Step-by-Step

  1. Note the mini boss health when it appears - it is roughly 30% of the finale.
  2. Cleared it comfortably: keep going, the finale is about three times larger.
  3. Cleared it with nothing left: restart now rather than playing out the room.
  4. For grouped mini bosses, judge survival by the pooled figure, not the individual one.
  5. Funny Face is the exception at 56% - clearing it there nearly guarantees the room.

Tips & Notes

  • The mini boss is not an obstacle, it is a measurement - roughly a third of what the room will finish with.

FAQ

How do I know if my run is worth finishing in The House TD 2?

Use the mini boss. It lands near 30% of the final boss health, so struggling with it means the finale at roughly three times that is out of reach.

Which room breaks the mini boss ratio?

Funny Face on Floor 2, where the Scare Bear is 56% of the finale rather than the usual quarter to third.

How should I read grouped mini bosses?

Use the pooled health to judge whether you survive the wave, and the individual health to judge whether your single-target damage removes one quickly.
