TD 2 vs TD 1: 7 Real DifferencesThe House TD 2 · Updated 2026-08-19

Search 'the house td' and you will find two games that look like siblings: The House TD - The Hunt (2023) and The House TD 2 - Launch (2026). They share the haunted-house tower defense premise and even a currency name, but they are NOT interchangeable - and mixing them up costs players real time (and wasted code attempts). Here are seven differences we verified against Roblox's own data, plus what actually carries over.

The House TD 2 vs the original, at a glance

Step-by-Step

  1. Different developers: the original is by Spectral Roblox; TD 2 is by DeadB Studios, under a different Roblox group with a different owner. TD 2 presents itself as 'The House 2', but no public statement links the two teams - and the original is still actively updated by its own team.
  2. Codes do NOT cross over: the original still lists House50k, H75k and Wow100k in its description - all three are original-game only. TD 2 has zero codes and no redeem UI at all yet.
  3. Different vocabulary: TD 2 calls its fighters units; the original calls them heroes (earned from tombs and urns). Guides that mix these terms are mixing games.
  4. Different progression spine: TD 2 organizes around factions (Undead/Paranormal/Demon/Military/Holy plus Omni payouts); the original runs on chapters with an elevator climbing floor by floor, currently at Chapter 4.
  5. Different scale: original - 30-player servers, 225M+ lifetime visits, 3 years of content; TD 2 - 12-player servers, 4.1M visits, six weeks old and self-labeled early beta.
  6. Different maturity of data: the original has an established Fandom wiki and years of community stats; TD 2 has no Fandom wiki, no published unit stats and even its community tier lists admit they cannot rank units yet.
  7. What DOES carry over: Voodoo Tokens exist in both games as a premium-ish currency, the horror co-op tower defense DNA is shared, and skills you built reading wave pressure in the original transfer just fine.

Tips & Notes

  • If you loved the original, temper expectations: TD 2 is a six-week-old beta, not a finished sequel - judge it as an evolving game.
  • Playing both? Keep separate notes on codes and currencies - the fastest way to frustration is redeeming (or grinding) in the wrong game.
